I sure wish people would go back to wearing gold on the volleyball courts. It has been so dry here and gas costs too much to go to the beach, that I decided to hit the tot-lots and volleyball courts, that still use sand as a medium. I took my "Beach Dredge" with me for a workout, we both got a workout, and was somewhat rewarding, till the volleyball players arrived and ran me off. :'(. On the first pass I got the ring, the second pass got me a quarter and dime, the 3rd. and 4th. pass got me the other clad and the steel bracelet, looks like silver, but NOT! Will go back early in the a.m. I don't think those kids will be up that early ;D. And it will be cooler also......... Not GE Sure beats swinging a coil and missing half the stuff.......

I hunt every volleyball court I come across and only find pennies at most. I've been doing it for years and I still scratch my head because someone has to loose a ring or pocket full of change. ???

Tomorrow morning I am going to try the courts at a county park, there are six of them right next to each other, and after I remove all the trash, then I'll take the "Fisher" Dirt Fishing........Not GE

Did you make that ,or buy it somewhere.Looks like a lawn mower handle and a sand flea basket.I could use one of them for the river.Goodluck, relic

It must take a lot of energy to pull that around. Get yourself a used snow blower with 6 speeds forward and put a big screen over the end to catch the gold rings and coins. Nice stainless steel ring $50. to $100 maybe more.

It would work good under water.....Thats what i would use it for ,shallow water, sand river banks, indian relics.

I made the dredge and it does do a wonderful job in the water. It works great for near shore areas where there are alot of nails, from old piers. Just tie a lonnnnnnng bar magnet somewhere inside to catch and retain hair pins. I will put the plans on the tools section in here......

Nice job  The guys on the treasure coast of florida would love it..Sometimes they find emeralds in shallow water .That would work great, also for me in the indian village areas.Somethings wont beep..

Nice design. I like it alot. And being the privydigger that I am, that sure looks like a bottle probe that the dredge is leaning against. You do any probing yourself?

This is NOT my design, it was in an older treasure magazine, and the designer sent me the plans upon request for a nominal fee. IDK which magazine, but it was over 15 years ago. Yes I used that probe for looking for bottle dumps along river banks and clumps of trees. Not now though. I have scanned the plans to my computer, but now I don't know how to get it into a folder , so I can reduce the size and post it here. I will try photographing, then resizing, then posting......... Not GE

Hey man that's pretty slick. I'll be watching for the design post. I could use something like this.

Love your thread! It reminds me of the old days down in Grand Haven when we used beach sifters. This was back before they started running the big beach cleaner.

Someone told me that over the years that beach sweeper guy has made a killing on jewelry.

He doesn't get all of it though.

Keep posting--great stuff!

Hey NotGA...that is a neat contraption. I like the concept. You must drive a truck or have a mighty big trunk in your car. Looks like it only gets the upper 5 or 6 inches but that would get all the recent drops. Sweet gadget!

I got that same design sent to me more that twenty years ago. The design, as I remember, had wheels on the end furtherest from the handle. Those wheels were there so the machine can be pushed easily backward into the water to ready for another pull. Do you find that you miss having the wheels installed? Its nice to see someone working with an innovative machine that costs so little to make. Best to you, Mike.

Wow! That is probably one of the coolest things I have seen in a while!

I think that is the neatest dam thing I have seen in a long long time... I cant wait to see your post on how to make it... how very clever ... wtg big time..

we used clam rakes that were modified to dredge the bottom of the barnegat bay in n.j., all you had to do was buy a $20.00 clammers permit and nobody would bother you...your rig looks much lighter ...i would suggest that anyone trying out their own design to ty a 5 ft rope on it with a float so you can retrieve the rig if and when your arms give out......cool dredge

There is a vollyball court not 5 minutes from where I work and it is in a neighborhood where the homes average about 800k/1M. It gets used often and I hunt it once a week or so and have yet to find anything. Not even a new penny..... very odd..
