Bear Country

When a bear treats a human like a bear, well we,re a bit more fragile. Get them used to a scavenging routine then interfere we are just competition. Or wander into their feed, cubs or wrong day just be in the way... history in michigan has at least one that killed. I had wanted to hunt them, won,t now. after losing a leg way high i risk being the joke when buddy takes off running!.
Very true releventchair, just never know if your bumping into 'the wrong bear on the wrong day'!!

As few as i see its still exciting. But i don,t trust guessing what they will do when they locate me. Not fear but respect and i leave them alone.
Before i started deer hunting you could take them on your deer tag. I just get to watch them. One checked me out during last lite a little to close and almost got it.
It ran by and when it scented me came in. Interesting!

Keeping 'your cool' obviously worked that time, and your heart 'got a little work-out too' I bet! heh heh! ;)

What was even scarier when I was up north there, was during that same week my friend's friend's wife was in a tree stand and this bear was bent on climbing her tree. The bear attempted to go up her stand tree three times. The only thing that we could figure out and was affirmed later, was that it was her time of the month.

Yeah, 'blacks' have more maulings and deaths of humans than any other bear.
Yea,dont play dead with a Black bear!!!

A round here skunks come out first which is pretty soon

Focus was on getting one shot had it closed the gap, while not being aggressive it was too curious. When it left i got shaky from the rush! First one i,ve seen stand too.

I love to see and hear of all 'the Ladies' who love 'The great outdoors' Too....but..I have stressed over and over to my family (sisters, nieces, friends etc.) If it's 'their time of the month' Wait, or if not....Be Overly Cautious!!, bears will come straight in to the scent of 'Any' blood from miles away (thinking food!)

'Been there..Done that' too for many moons my friend
Then usually it puts a grin on your face...while shaking your head! :laughing7:

I think skunk breeding season started about two weeks ago. Quite a few have been killed on the roads.

........seen the Sandhill Cranes headin your way yesterday....Spring is comin!

Yes, the Sandhills and Turkey buzzards are a great sound and sight on the north side of the Great Lakes too. Seen first raccoon of spring out of hibernation walking to the creek across the snow out my kitchen window a few hours ago. :)
Another Beautiful Season's beginning!

Don't raccoons semi hibernate? We see then often along the roads at night during the winter months.

Hey old digger, here they usually sleep right through winter and aren't seen till spring....
possible they may wake during a short lived really warm spell in winter..then 'right back to bed':)

I took a six and a half cinnamon bear up in Saskatchewan sixteen years ago. I was a spring hunt and he had no rubs on him yet. Sure would like to get another one.

Here is a picture of the bear taxidermied.

No, donated it to a museum. But a couple of years ago the museum closed, and I tried to get it back but it seems to have dissapeared. :icon_scratch:

"THAT"...(dealing with museums)!!..."Should" be the place with the 'most' dependable and honest people!!! :sadsmiley: Sad to say...but that type of 'thing' is happening more and more...way to often with trusted institutes!! Hope they show some morals and respect...and it's return to the rightful 'Real' owner!!.....You!!
