Howdy Folks. Hit up the spot I found my sash buckle to search for the other half. It was too frozen to dig. Trekked into the field for a bit easier digging. Got a few cool old relics. Star oil lamp adjustment wheel, UMC Co 10 gauge brass, metal arrow point, and my oldest US silver coin to date an 1849-O Seated Liberty Dime. The perfume compact was found yesterday in my hometown. Happy happy joy joy. I knew I'd get 1800's silver eventually from this permission. Yes I did beat the silver coin against my Predator shovel to get it out! Fortunately I did no damage. Might have to stop doing that. Thanks for stopping by. Kurios1

That is a nice coin! The condition is pretty darn good. Nice find!

Awesome old coin find! :occasion14:

Congrats on a great find Kevin. If I'm hunting a field and get an excellent coin hit, I usually just take the clod of frozen dirt home with me, and let it thaw in the house for a few hours. Less chance of damaging the coin with your shovel. Just a thought. I would hate to see you with a post that said you sliced that coin in half ! Of course then it would be a Half Dime which is still an excellent find !

Awesome seated! Congrats on your oldest US coin. Great way to defy the Old Man Winter.

Congrats on the old silver Kevin, seems like winter isn't keeping you down.

Just congrats Kevin. You deserve it for the time your puttin' in! :notworthy:

Nice old silver! She's beautiful. Congrats on the great finds

Thanks frozen neighbor.I considered that being the wise approach but, impatience got the better of me. Fortunately I didn't destroy it. I will be more careful in the future believe me.

Congrats on the beautiful Seated Silver. Nothing prettier than those 1800's silvers, and bet you forgot about the cold for just a moment when you saw it!:icon_thumright:

Wow, nice score.. persistence pays off.. Congrats Kurios1.. :occasion14:

WTG on the seated silver

Nice Going!! only 300,000 minted :)

Thanks buddy. This coin has to be one of my scarcest recoveries for coins. Sure glad I didn't mangle it against my shovel.

Awesome find! I absolutely hate nicking any old coins. You're lucky on many levels.

I used my predator shovel to pound the frozen dirt on. I didn't hack away at it like a mad man. Still pretty risky and after surviving this near miss something I won't be repeating.

Howdy partner. I have been hunting this dirt for about eight years I reckon. I know the history is 1830 forward so I figured eventually I'd get some old silver. I hope it doesn't take that long for the next old silver! Thanks for stopping by.

A very pretty old seated O dime. I can only dream of getting out when the ground is frozen solid like that.
