Check out your state here............http://www.fmdac.org/parks/parks.htm You can also visit your cities website to see if there might be restrictions. Learn to remove coins with only a screwdriver and not with the use of a shovel. That is the tool that can get you banded from parks and properties.

You do not need a thousand dollar detector to have fun. Tesoro is a very good brand, just stick to the major brands and you won't have a problem. Try to buy from a local dealer as he'll help you in many ways.

Sandman's link (which BTW, says "no" to state parks there), would only apply to state park land. It does not apply to city, county, private, etc.....

As for "city" land (parks, lots, schools, etc...) if it's not specifically disallowed (ie.: a sign or whatever), then go. As long as you're not breaking some other rule (being a nuisance, making a mess, etc...), then you're ok. Just go at low traffic off times, because detectors are a natural draw for busy-bodies, or wrong assumptions, etc.... (kinda like picking your nose: no one cares till you ask if you can).

Trying not to reinvent the wheel here but i don't want to cause a bad name for other hobbyists.

1. Put on a smile :icon_biggrin:
2. Comb your hair :glasses11:
3. Knock on the front door. :toothy1: Or find the Pastor or office, owner etc... :icon_farao:
3 Throw important names at them or money :happy1: ;D Just kidding but, Hey, if it works :happy11:

4. Just be sincere . :) Tell them you are sain :tongue1: and that this (detecting) is just what you enjoy doing on your days off. :sunny: Let them know you don't make a mess :nono: and show them some stuff you might find. :smileinbox:..They love that. :love5:

5. And maybe something in writing. :evil5: Georgia is a bit funny :cussing: about people digging up their treasure. :occasion17: :protest:

I would check out the White's MXT. It is one of the best machines for relic hunting as well as coins.
