That is cool. Is or was there a hook on the back?? If so it's a buckle if not it's part of a two piece buckle. I've never seen one like that. I'm sure it dates after 1900 and am thinking it might date about WWI.

That is a cool "false",tongue and wreath buckle! It has the Great Seal so it should date between 1902 to present,my gut says WW2 era?

I find it odd being so decorative, and is that what you mean by false? Not military issue?

Ok, I read again and understand the false part, but not if it was actually military.

Naw Kuger I meesed up Trying to do to many things at once. I didn't notice the wreath or I would have known it wasn't part of a 2 piece. However I can't believe you have the nerve to say it WWII when I think it's WWI :laughing7: The only reason I was thinking WWI is I didn't think they used that type of buckle as late as WWII. I'm not sure on that though.

Right, false meaning its not a two piece(it should have a stud on the back)but looks like one, they were popular during WW2 era,I can not say whether it was def. Military or not but I would guess it was

I could be way off on the era as well(anything past 1860 is out of my scope)you are probably dead on with WW1.Big Cy is pretty sharp on dating the Great Seal styles and I am sure he is lurking

This is fantastic to see all of you discussing my find, I really appreciate the help on this because I have searched online for a match to this for hours and have found nothing. Here are some pics of the back. Thank you all for the help and expertise.

p.s. I found a 1911 Canadian penny right beside it.

Well ,its fun to see,and discuss. You have a really nice piece there. The False T&W style dates back to the Civil War,but the Great Seal semi dates it to post 1902.More info will come along I am sure

It looks a little decorative. Where the belt loops through it, has similar markings/designs that are common on sash buckles. I am making just a guess, and still searching for true id but I am thinking WW1 officers sash buckle...

My thoughts... :coffee:

It's tiny. It was found at a old school. It's not standard military. So I'm thinking school cadet corps, like the modern JROTC. :dontknow:

I dont know what kind of flower that is but it just doesnt look military to me. Maybe a sweetheart buckle or a womans sash buckle. Looking at part of the fingers it appears to be kinda small as someone said.

Don't know if this helps but here is a pic of the buckle next to a quarter. Thanks for the help everyone. The more I read the more eager I am to id this.
