Got macro pics of the IH with no neighbors. There's still a lot of mud & crud on the coin, but I can't see detail in these pics that I thought I saw under the magnifier. I thought it was VF-20 when I first posted; now I'm wondering if it's even F-12, looks worn. We'll see.
I just yesterday got permission to hunt an 1852 house I've had my eye on for some time. Today is "no rain", so I went over there after work. After working parts of the front yard pretty well--and only finding a very old spoon handle at the base of a tree--I went around the side of the house.
I got a mid-70's VDI (hunting 15 KHz, Raw VDI #'s). There was a tennis ball-width grassless spot that had a greenish / verdigris-ish disc in it. My first thought was a knock-out from an electrical switch or outlet box, but those were never copper.
Field cleaning showed it to be an Indian. After more cleaning at home, I am now pretty sure that last digit is a 7.
2nd-oldest coin ever on the first day at the site. And it was a no-digger! (no Lesche marks).
