Beware Possible Scam artist working the forums

Quick question about this article. I noticed you guys mentioned about verification on PayPal. Off this subject short story, I am selling a business and it is listed among other places craigslist. Out of the blue someone offered me an amount close to what I was asking but much more than other legitimate offers. Tried to tell me he would pay via PayPal and that he is out of the country for a while. This is a construction business mind you so he is not buying a virtual company. So o basically saw scam written all over this not ever even asking anything about what was included... I am just curious at how would I have gone about verifying this turd and if I went to police or feds do they look into things like that or is it too rampent? Thanks guys!

Just want to say that when using PayPal, a person will be much more protected using the goods and service option if you end up needing to dispute. So I would be a little more cautious if someone would only accept friends and family. I also know it's nice being able to avoid that fee, but there are benefits that come with the extra 3%.
I think a big majority of people selling here though are trustworthy.

I sort of think I remember that, & I don't think it was meant to be rude.
but rather to give you a heads Up. so that if you get a PM
from someone offering to sell, You at least be careful.
since Non Member deals can & Probably do go on in pm's behind our backs :tongue3:
(not a bannable offense. just not recommended due to problems in the past)

As far as I'm concerned. I think we are the most Friendly forum to new members
on the internet. since I've been here I've at least strive to make it that way.
unfortunately perfection takes time.

I'm a New Newbie here at TNet and must say that it is one of the most welcoming sites I've ever come across. While I haven't had the chance to meet & greet everyone here, many welcomed me within hours time and many have already helped me with my numerous questions. This site has some of the greatest & most helpful folks around. I am glad I landed here and I already know I'm part of the "family". Thanks TNet and thank you to all who welcomed me. I especially want to thank Possum for taking the time out to clarify a few things I was confused about.

Cheers to my new-found family..!

You’re correct. I absolutely do not purchase if someone mentions PP Gift. There’s no reason in asking for that form of payment. While PP is nice it also leave lots of loopholes for the seller to screw someone.

Gare, you may never see that machine. And beware of all kinds of scams, looting, civil disorder as things get freaky weird in the next few weeks.

I fear that your money is gone.

Experience is something you get, right after you needed it.

He was a charter member here ! Tnet mods are trying to help !! Please all be careful

Charter membership requires $20. Nothing more.

What were his postings, how many finds did he have? How long was he a member?

Ugh. This gives the good people on the forum a bad name. I can honestly say that anything I have bought on here was shipped quick and was as described. Sorry to hear about this and I agree with Smokey here. Who knows what is coming down the pike for scammers ect. with how everything is going.

I've sold and purchased a few things on TNet.

When I see something for sale, and I want it, I always start paying attention to the other party involved, wanna see some history there. I've been sucker enough already in my past to last the remainder of my life :(

I want to THANK all the MODS on here for helping save us from scammers. They try but all need to know some times a SCAMMER can slip through the cracks
