I got out today and hit the oat field looking for another keeper. I found a 1919 Merc there the other day, but the plough destroyed it.
Today, the X5 went to work along the edge, and I got a great signal on the Etrac. One way it was 10-46, the other way, the ferrous number was staying on the 1 line.... but the CO remained in the mid 40's.
I was surprised to see this guy. I thought it was another NB One penny, until I noticed the word Stiver. WTF is a Stiver? I asked myself that very same question...
[h=1]One Stiver 1813 Guyana[/h]A One Stiver coin from Essequebo and Demarary, dated 1813.
The area around teh Essequibo river became a Dutch colony in the early 17th century. During the Napoleonic Wars, it was occupied by the British, and under the Treaty of London in 1814, it was transferred to British rule. It was merged with the British colony of Demarary, and the merged colonies changed name to British Guyana in 1831.
I also found this little guy. It is dainty, but I have no idea what it is...
Happy hunting.
