I dug this ring which was about 5" deep and at first gave a quarter signal but then a dime signal as I got closer to it. I almost crapped my pants when I found it because I only saw the back side and it is heavy. Idon't think it is silver but does anyone recognize the mark on the back of it?It looks like a "N" with a hook at the upper right of it.

Welcome saberrescue,

Thanks for showing your excellent looking ring. I'd like to see more focused photos, if you would please. It sure looks like silver to me. Turquoise, onyx, coral(?( something… inlay looks great. Mighty tribal looking to me.

Get it tested. Much native american jewelry and most amateur or hobbyist made jewelry isn't marked with the metal content, but is sterling. The stone work looks way too crude to be Zuni in my opinion, their work is usually much more precise, and usually has metal between every piece of the inlay. I don't think it is real old since without metal between the different stones they must be epoxied together. Always great to find nice large silver rings!!
