I know this is a stupid question. But I have to ask.

What kind of mileage do you get with that boat and motor?

My wife had a colleague that has twin 454s on a boat and told her it takes a gallon and a half/ motor to go a mile. (He told her the boat is not trailerable, I assume by normal means so I assume it is a big boat).

I have to say I ain't cheap, but I am frugal, and she is frugalererer than I am. This person scared her a bit!
So that is not helping me convince her how bad we need a boat.

Ha! I have seen some like that on our bigger lakes. You can hear them coming 2 miles away and they kick a rooster tail 30 feet high behind them. They could probably tow a cruise ship with them :laughing9:

In terms of mile rage, I get about 10 gallons an hour for the single 250 two stroke I use, you can nearly double that down with a four stroke if you drive in a frugally manner, which I do.

My speed is about 22 knots at the frugalness RPM so about half a gallon a mile which equals $2.5 bucks a mile here. I have a huge engine on a heavy boat too ( well before the refurb anyhow ha ha) lighter boats burn virtually no gas...

However a smaller engine or a four stroke is gonna be about 25 to 50 cents a mile in the USA. at your frugality prices for gas

Hope this helps

Ps....all boats are trailerable

All done now, tanks in, ready to launch.

Started the engine yesterday boat feels much lighter on the trailer so launching early next week on a fishing / diving trip, report to follow after that.

Hope you enjoyed the refurb journey. If you wanna guess the total cost? ..... post by all means.

I will PM anyone within $500 of the cost to confirm your guess.

SADS 669's boat is glass.
Regarding aluminum boats or any metal contact with a transom; pressure treated wood must be expected to react the same as dissimilar metals and will corrode.

Guessing at Mako's rehabbing cost, all parts, material and labor included; not counting beer, $3500 American.
