Don't let the snow bother you, it just makes gridding easier. I hunt until the snows too deep to swing the coil. It actually makes a nice insulating blanket on the ground and helps those real cold nights from freezing the dirt solid.
Even our friend the snow can't protect the ground from freezing in -20! Tried a test hole yesterday and no dice unless you are willing to only hunt targets that are 1" deep or less, now I suppose if a guy was to target south facing slopes that never get any shade.........
