A picture might be helpful

top pic is a piece of a hand guard of a sword
and the other bit of a trigger guard might have a GR cipher ( Georgivus Rex) topped with a regal crown ...kinda corroded..hard to tell exactly

OMG!!!!!!! Speechless! Ok Im trying to digest this now!!!!!!

Yep, slightly broken sword guard and the ear on the trigger guard should have had a hole drilled through it where a pin would attach it to the stock. Makes me think maybe a piece of an unfinished trigger guard casting.

I cleaned it more and I think the stamp is pretty visible now!

Super finds! Congrats on the guards!

I would like to pin point the origin of this sword guard. I found it in Puerto Rico. Predominantly I would think its spanish but it could also be british. Crown over the letter “R”. I’m still looking and researching it. Any help is more than welcome!

That’s awesome!!! Did you find it in dry soil? Looks great cleaned up

Sartine pattern French Naval cutlass. Crown over R is 1776 - 1783. That's a really nice dig!

Sadly harmed the piece by aggressively cleaning it but it is a stellar find
