Ok I'm stummped on this one. I tried to internet research it but came up blank. I dug this up yesterday, at about 12 inches, at a school built in 1901. It gave off such a wierd signal I had to dig it. The front says, " Britanica Society," with an image of a thistle plant in the center and 1768 below it. The back is smooth with two small attachment posts. I believe its made from copper or perhaps brass. Maybe it has something to do with the encyclopedia?
Thanks for looking!
