Hello All,
This was my first signal of the day. When I flipped it out
I assumed it was a British button from the American Revolution era, but the condition gave me 2nd thoughts, 8 hours later, I'm home and I've got a positive ID. It's the real deal: A British 60th Royal American Regiment of Foot circa 1774, 24 MM :hello2:
http://www.historicalimagebank.com/...m21/album46/RWb46ds_60th_button_copy.jpg.html
I also got a nice civilian pewter, and a thin Seated Dime
Maybe 1842/1847,
some other stuff too,
can't type anymore, I've just dug my best find to date.
HooWee, Best Digs to You All!

Yes the uniforms were red with dark blue trimming (lapels and cuffs).

My Girl Laurie was with me enjoying the sun, & when I told her my thoughts about the button she said, 'You made a nice find, can't we go shopping now?'

You make the right Rev War find and she will really want to go shopping! ;D

That is history Herbie great button :notworthy: A Banner find for sure !! Jim

Congratulations on the 60th Regt. button. You can't ask for any better condition for a dug button from that period. Excellent find!

That's a coat weight, used to weigh down the ends of long coats. I believe they were also used on window draperies too.

GREAT FIND!! Waiting on my first Regiment button. Congrats! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

gwdigger,
The infamous curtain weights ::)
Sound SO sweet, and feel like a nice coin till you walk to the water, rinse them off, & 'Oh NOOO', Not Another One ::)

That's for sure!
I overheard Her side of a phone conversation with her brother regarding my finds,
He must have mentioned selling some of them, she replied 'Oh, I don't think he would ever do that, they represent much more than money to him' ;D
and we all know how 'Valuable' most of our finds are to collectors :(

What about the 3rd button you have posted? I can see an "s". What does it say? :icon_scratch: It looks too old to be a button from a pair of overalls. Congrats on the 60th button. It's beautiful. :icon_thumleft:

HH!! :hello:

Greetings coinmaster2db!
In my excitement over the '60th' I forgot that item,
It is the cover from an ointment tube, can't decipher the brand :icon_scratch:
thanks & HH to All

So are you still on your button high? :tongue3: The better ones I have found kept me good for at least a week... the really good ones content for maybe a month. I still do find them once in a while but it's always something I dug before so not quite the lasting joy. But still a good feeling when you put it in perspective.
