the interlocking script makes me think its continental navy or up to War of 1812.

navy buckle

i was in mnav wy and army and disabled from army and cant metal detect like i usedto could. Do you have any reales or any other buckles you would sell or civil war stuff period

I found this piece of brass that has a hollow back. It appears you found the lead that would fit this brass plate. It is definitely an early US Navy but I'm not sure what vintage. IMG01390-20120706-1322.jpg
