First rose of the year from the wife's rose bushes, and a cool looking bug
that was hanging out on a door frame. Google calls it a "Downy leather-winged beetle"

The "Downy leather-winged beetle"is agood bug to have around, certainly garden friendly.

Very pretty! Mine aren't blooming yet.

I can tell you that there's different colors...maybe we'll get a white one..
