I'm new to the forum and the sport. So far I haven't found much. Today I found a bullet casing at my town's train depot which I think is an interesting place to find such an item. Anyway the casing has nice patina and has the markings "E C 42." Any idea what caliber or type of gun would use such a bullet? 42 caliber.JPG

From what I have just recently learned, the "42" most likely represents "1942" and it would be a military shell since there is no caliber identification.
