Hello Forum,

Can anyone assist me in Identifying this? Is it a bullet of some kind? It has a strange torpedo shape, and has no stampings on it.

Some more pics and measurement might help in getting an ID.

Could it be a grenade launching blank? This would be much cooler than a starting pistol :-D

Is it heavy for its size? More like solid metal?

How about a pic of each end?

Possibly either a blank or a shot shell - or something else. Just doesn't look right with that long angle to the rim.

Is there a primer on the flat end/base?

Agreed. If it's a bullet of some sort I've never seen one but a picture of the base showing whether or not it has a primer and any possible markings would help greatly. Even a headspace guage which is not actually a bullet and has no primer will have the size & caliber marked on it somewhere.

We need more pictures...
The flat base and the open end.
Measurements in thousands of inch and so on.
Looks like it is about .38 or 9mm if in fact it is a cartridge.

Ok, here are a couple more (front and back). There is a metal piece that is still inside. I assume this is the primer. I found this at an old historical site at the base of a large tree.Front.webpback.webp

I know Nothing about ammo, except that which I use, so take it with a grain of salt that it looks more like part of a hose nozzle to me. :icon_scratch:

Thanks for your opinion, but any dummy fake snap cap training round I've ever seen is solid. This one is hollowed out, and has a strange torpedo shape with no markings.

I'm still banging my head on this one. Seems like I should know what it is, but it's just not coming out.

I don't think it is a bullet of any type. If you push on the metal piece inside will it move? I agree with nhbenz that it is part of a nozzle or something along those lines.

Reminds me of the "bullets" for old Daisy Soft Air guns, but all of those that I remember seeing were plastic..... could be something similar though....

Thanks for everyone's ideas. When you push on the metal piece inside it does move. I took a wooden tooth pic and cleaned out as much dirt as possible. I thought it could have been a primer that got pushed down into the cartridge. It looks close to the Daisy bullet, but the torpedo shape at the back end is different.
