Hello Forum,

Can anyone assist me in Identifying this? Is it a bullet of some kind? It has a strange torpedo shape, and has no stampings on it.

Ok, here are a couple more (front and back). There is a metal piece that is still inside. I assume this is the primer. I found this at an old historical site at the base of a large tree.View attachment 1395455View attachment 1395456

The primer would be in the cavity at the bottom of the cartridge. The movable part would be where the bullet and powder would go if a live cartridge.

I understand, but I am still wondering what it is. I plan on taking it to a local gunsmith to see if he can help to identify it.

It looks like a normal firework starter round; in Europe you can purchase Gas Pistols that fire these, on the end of the pistol is a threaded adaptor that holds a rocket, fire it and it sets off the rocket. Just google feuerwerk gaspistole.

If it were a dummy round then its got an autoloader style rim on it, how could you simulate firing an auto loader with dummy rounds ?

not for simulating firing but for function checking

Thank you all so much! Some very interesting ideas, but can anyone find a picture just like any that I have posted? That tapered look at the back end, and the fact that there are no markings has me perplexed.

It could be gardening related but it"s not threaded in any way no gasketing. It's heavy, and that piece in the center that rattles around has me guessing.

Possibly a rat shot shell?

Although these don't have that torpedo base. Hmmmm...
