The years in the dirt didn't take the fine needle-like points of this thing! Went back into the pocket a short time later and found it pointing straight up. Anyone know what it is?

I got some good advice from Hutch911 earlier today about the MXT and found some bullets I probably walked over a hundred times, thanks man!

I've been staring at this carved bullet since I found it last weekend and I believe it was once a 69 cal. musket ball. I've decided I'm gonna try to carve one myself just like it. I'll stick it back in the ground when I'm done (with my initials) and maybe my grandkids will find it someday.

Might be the remnants of an old small game trap... ???
I will tell you this much, I would sure hate to step on it!!!

Looks like a part to an old buckle...

Yea, looks like part of a trap to me also.

I'm going to go with a womans hair barrette. Shot in the dark here.

Suspender clip. Nice Sharp's bullet too! Looks like you have found a campsite. Pound it hard! HH!

Neat idea on the carving. Great finds with that MXT!

Nana :)

Chopper, this was my only decent find yesterday and it looks just like that "ouch" piece of yours. It's amazing how these things stay so sharp being in the ground all those years eh? Nice finds!

Ouch! just to look at that thing hurts.

Hey Chopper,

You have some nice finds there. You mentioned the "carved" bullet. Lead is easy to melt and pour. No need to carve bullets; bullet molds were carried with your possibles back then. If everyone had to carve each bullet the skirmish wouldn't last long. You would probably be called "One Shot Willy".

Ohio Jerry,
What are the odds we'd pull the exact same random object out of the ground on the same day? Did you dig yours at 6:47 too? Let's each pick three numbers for power ball and split our winnings.
And TimC, when I first found the carved piece in the second pic I thought it was from a mold, but no one has seen a bullet like it and if you look real close there are imperfections and even carving marks on it, so I think this one was some talented and bored soldier's work (as Buckleboy suggested). Too bad all bullets don't have to be carved, we'd have to think real hard before shooting and the lazy would be S.O.L.

Chopper,I dug mine between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. had to get home for beer, wings and a 4:15 Steelers kickoff ;D Nick's right,I don't how many times I've checked up on "todays finds" and thought "holy cow" that's the same thing i dug the other day! Speaking of coincidences I dug a 1787 New Jersey copper the other day (Sept 17) and realized a couple days later i dug that coin on the 221st anniversary of the Constitution being adopted! Makes ya wonder sometimes... :icon_scratch: Nice job on all your civil war digs,I'm a huge Civil war buff,I love seeing your 3 ringers etc.

Chopper way to go that MXT is a good tool it sure is a talking machine but once you know the language you will find alot more stuff for sure I'm glad I could help. Nice sharps bullet!
