***Bullets, Buttons & Coins Oh My***
My buddies and I went out yesterday to the same site where I reovered my first Yankee civil war belt plate in April, and this sit continues to yield relics a plenty. This ares is a known battle filed site/encampment. I had my best overall bullet day, recovering 23 bullets:
4 dropped .58 caliber
1 dropped .52 Spencer
1 Complete .52 Spencer bullet with intact shell casing
1 fired .44 colt caliber calvary bullet
1 fired Gardner
3 fired Enfiled
10 fired .58 caliber
2 dropped William Cleaners Type II
I also dug 2 flat buttons, one with a back mark: BEST QUALITY LONDON which I belive to be Confederate since this section of the field Confederate buttons have been recovered. I also dug my first holed 1848 Large Cent, which is pretty neat. The unique item is is a small round circular object with a star in the base which is raised. Since a partial Mississippi button was recovered in the same area that this item was recovered, I can only "surmise" possibly a lead seal/confederate
?
The bullets, buttons, and coins are out there, but you need to dig all signals and haul away your trash which we do.
