I was at Target yesterday (hence the post title), and I noticed a coin on the floor out of the corner of my eye. I walk over to it expecting to find a nickel or quarter. But as I get closer it appears to be a brass coin with a center hole. Oh gee, I thought to myself, it's just an old subway token. But with it in my hands, I discover that it's a 1974 Japanese 5 yen! it's only worth about 6 cents USD, but it's my first Japanese coin found in the wild, and the first 5 yen for my collection. Yay!

Congrats on your score, and nice creative name to this topic!!! I remember my first holed coin, unfourtinately it was bought not found. I am still waiting to find my first holed foreign coin though I get a lot of my foreign coins off the magnet on the coin counter at my bank, and most of these holed coins are not magnetic.


I myself collect foreign coins and have from literally almost every country in the world. (Nothing valueable but a few silvers here and there). If you ever need help trying to identify a foreign coin(this goes out to anyone) give me a PM. I will be glad to help.
