Well I went to my mom's yesterday to get her settled in to her house afer a stay in the hospital. I also went to cut up a big limb that had fallen down during the ice storms this winter. Well my electric chain saw burnt up and I didn't even get to use it!!! I lent it to my uncle and the first time I went to use it poof! Literally!

So I got out her lawn mower and cut her grass. As payment she watched my two kiddos while they played in her front yard and I detected her neighbors front and side yard for an hour and 15 minutes.

I found a big spoon, my mom said it's a sugar spoon. It says stanhome and then has either a house or some writing and then the word stainless on it! A R. Liberman MFG Newark NJ eagle button and a tootsie toy! Also found two keys a few coins and some junk. The metal screw off cap says GRADE A Pasturized Vitamin D milk.

I found the teaspoon last time I was at my mom's it says WMA Rogers on it and then Oneida. It is pretty silver so it may be silver plated?????

Still a bunch of junk but no banner find. Don't think I will ever make the banner but I'm gonna keep trying for it.

The strange thing is I am finding lots of copper pennies from the early 60s but no wheats and I also found a 57 nickel so you would think there is silver somewhere there... oh well... Thanks for looking.

Hey, Larry, at least you were able to put in some detecting time. And it sure looks like you were busy digging!! Keep swinging....you never know when you will be recovering that "Banner Find". Heck, don't feel too bad. I found a very rare Indian Head penny on Wed., and it didn't make Banner. :'(

Looks to me like you had a pretty good day there! Glad to hear mom is back home! Keep at it...I know you will find a great one for the banner someday....persistence pays off! ~hugs~

Hey Buddy Me!
You're getting closer to that silver; for sure! I would bet my other shoe that within the next three hunts, you are going to do it!

Hang in there but don't get hung! :)

Hey thanks all. As BB is fond of saying just six months ago a hunt like this would have made me estatic!!!!!

So I don't mean to sound ungrateful! I did get out, I got practice and I dug stuff besides Zincolns! So not too bad.

I just can't seem to find a really outstanding find but that doesn't mean I'm going to quit trying.

its just a dry spell, we all get em. My detecting partner Mud(s.w.a.t.) had quite a dry spell before finding that 24k gold ring thats up there now. You have quite a few things from that yard, Im sure we all cant even begin to count all the days we came home with nothing but clad. You just have to get that coil over the right spot.

Just remember, six months ago you would have been ecstatic with those finds. :tard:

Dude.......you're digging some great stuff. You are learning the Beast and everyday out is an adventure. Banner finds are legendary....which means they don't happen often in a detecting career. Keep going and eventually that Banner find will surface. (Quit whinning). :D ;D

Just kidding 8)

I think you and I detected the same yard yesterday, because I found a tootsie toy car and spoon too! but at least you found a couple of other things on your sweep that I didn't.

Nice finds...I like that sugar spoon. Does that logo on the spoon look something like the one in this article? I can't see it too well in the pic.

Also did a net search and found this link with a clip from it: (http://www.answers.com/topic/stanhome-inc?cat=biz-fin)

"...........As compensation for hosting the party, the hostess at first was given a percentage of the sales in Stanley Home Products merchandise. Later, after the company's compensation program was revamped, the hostess was rewarded with a collectible gift, such as a portion of a silverware set. It was the birth of the "Famous Stanley Hostess Plan," as the company called it, the success of which fueled the growth of Stanley Home Products and extended the company's geographic reach into an array of foreign markets............."

Maybe that sugar spoon was that persons gift for hosting a party????

They started in 1931 and it appears they are still in business...bet if you contacted them, they could give you more info. I would say the spoon is from 1950-1958 time frame. Just my opinion

Its not what you find all the time its the fun of getting out and hunting.Good luck on your next hunt.

What.... no zipper pulls? Keep on detecting!

Nice Finds  ...Im sure people that made the Banner thought the same thing. Dont give up!! Its there waiting on you you just havent found it yet ;D

You and the beast are one~~~~~you and the beast are one~~~~~~~~

Are you having a slump just to be able to belly rub ::) Hehe!

Larry just remember what you told me Keep trying you'll hit a find you really- really- really like!

I am glad you got your mom home and conned her into babysitting so you could detect her neighbors yard!

I know you did work and if the chain saw was working you'd have done more, and I know you did not have to con her to babysit, she probably enjoyed just sitting out on the porch watching them play and you dig the neighbors, all in all I would say GREAT day!

Hey don't sell yourself short, this is great finds, you have 2 nice keys, and some other cool stuff. A+

ME, I like the spoons. I found a copper spoon at an old homesite. It's pretty neat. As for the silver it will come when you least expect it. I've only found two Merc's and I still get them out and drool over them....lol.....I'm in a dry spell right now just finding junk and clad.

Just keep swinging sooner or later you will find a Banner find. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. . . I haven't been finding too many zipper pulls. Guess I haven't been hunting the right places.

Well I for one miss the king of zipper pulls! So get out there and with the help of the beast (maybe you need BB there) I am confident you will be posting those zippers pulls in no time! ( and it might not hurt to have him in his pink tutu!) ;D

I love that first key! It's so ornate. Shame they don't make things like they use to. And that Tootsie! 8) Love to find those!

Great that your Mom is doing better! Congrats on those finds and keep digging! You never know what you're gonna find!
