Cause: Created by dense, conductive, and magnetic rocks, including Neoarchean iron formations and large mafic-ultramafic rift-related intrusions.

Connection to Sudbury: It mirrors the nearby Sudbury Basin in size and shape and contains distant impact-related offset dykes.

Mining Interest: Explored heavily for potential nickel, copper, and platinum group elements (Ni-Cu-PGE).
Effect on Compass: Local compass readings can spin or fail near parts of the anomaly due to the high magnetic flux underground.
