Hi,

I found this today on an old colonial road (not sure if it is colonial though).

it's small, about the size of a dime
no imprinting on the back but it does have the shank

Well, my friend the Rev War button collector could offer no satisfactory answer, I believe what PBK has said is most likely the area of the world the button came from since it is close to that German States coin in design..........

thanks for the effort - again much appreciated

definately makes sense - like you said there were alot of german settlers in PA back at that time but I also think the whole Hessian soldier avenue might also make sense - i remember reading some local texts a while back and there were a few groups of hessian soldiers in lycoming county during the war.
