This button was found at 1800’s old home site. It has a lot of designs on it. Looks like a watch tower between w cabins. Also looks like grapes hanging.

Anyone seen this design before and have possible age.

What a fascinating button:icon_thumright: - looks hand engraved. The possible bell tower/derrick could be a blockhouse because below it and the cabins there appears a sawtooth line which may represent a fence.

I see an early British or US colonial 'frontier style fort' with a flagpole projecting from the top. :icon_scratch:
I'm thinking it dates from the late-18thc, maybe made by someone in the American Militia.

That's a beautiful find, you've got a real piece of US history right there.

Thanks Dave agree with Fort description. This site has produced some unique things.
Lots of pocket watches and cases, tons of reeds, buckles, only a few coins and buttons.

Agree looking closer I see the trunk with the leaves.

Congrats on a very unique button. Are there letters at bottom center or right side along the edge? My imagination always sees more.

I believe another tree on right side
And fencing or brush at bottom
Maybe cloud right top

Looks like letters in the circles on the buckle piece, but I can't make it out. There are 13 circles, so I thought it might represent the original colonies, maybe? Cool find!

Hard to pull out much detail. I'm guessing French-Indian War fort. The lower part may be the artist's version of the front gate.

Here is the front of the buckle.
It has 12 circles with crosses and palm trees in between.

The buckle seems very light weight. More like a fashion buckle than functional. Is it stamped brass? It has obviously been in the ground for a long time.

What a beautiful button! Was that found in Maryland?

Yes very thin brass. Someone called it a sash buckle
