Doctors are people too. They may be greedy (just look at the cost of a 5 minute office visit - bring in $800-$1600/hr) but like every one else, they will work where they MAKE A PROFIT.

If my business can't make a profit where I am, but I know that moving to another country will allow me to live in the lifestyle to which I have become accustomed ... guess what I'm gonna do?

It is the same thing for doctors. They pack up and leave.

Whether it's leaving for another country or leaving for an opportunity to provide concierge care, it's still leaving. Why do you think the waits are so long in Canada?

Yup, and affordable healthcare will not be obtained with Govt, interference.....And by the way assisted suicide for the terminally ill was just passd into law here in VT., and they are a liberal and progressive legislature, they eant us old codgers gone as much as we don't want to be here. In vietnam i had a badly swollen ankle and went to a local doctor, who then suggested i go see his friend. The " friend " was a buddhist monk who sat me down in a chair and held my ankle in his lap as he proceeded to tap on the ankle rapidly with a bamboo stick, and a little kid banging a brass gong to keep the tempo. The monk then lit some incense and a cigerette. He blew cigarette smoke onto my ankle and continued tapping with the stick and the brass gong pounding near my head.

This was all great fun, but not healthcare as i'm accostomed to.

Give me american heathcare anyday.

There is only a 4 year difference and that is due to diet, not the health care........ I am married to a Filipino, my primary diet is oriental based..... My doctor has remarked many times I am in very good health for my age, I told him it is my wife's fault......I am on no maintenance drugs at all for anything....... My last bio screening came back excellent....

Also look at the change, 2011 ranked 33 in 2005-2010 ranked 40................

I had a very lengthy answer that delved deeply into American economic structure, but it didn't post. Basically, drug testing (and not telling the recipient). GDP, exports, and poverty levels are atrociously gapped among the world and should be more leveled. (Did you know that America is highly dependent on imports? i.e., cheap labor and supplies...bring the bloody stuff back to produce here!! Then creating an opportunity program to teach Americans to become more "effective" when spending. Adding to that, a way to better themselves too. That way, when prices rise in 3-5 years we are ready with better jobs (the ones that imports took away)...
