I think your right. I was thing mabe part of an older door lock or knob, but yours makes more sense. Thanks Plus it solid brass. (heavy)

Yea. Still can't make up my mind what it is. The length is 4 1/8", Big end is 7/8", and small end is1/2". Any more guesses beside sink stopper? The opening in it is 1 1/2". Also why the holes in both ends?
