Can anyone id this pin?

It has a script R in the middle of it. I was told that it could be an old militia cross belt plate pin from 1820-1835. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do you have a macro setting on your camera (flower icon)? If so, use that--then crop the photos before you resize them for better resolution.

back had a pin that was broken off.

Looks like pin would have been small/thin. Better suited for fabric.

I think it's a brooch too.

CW to Victorian era is my guess--but I would like to see a close-up of the type of attachment it has on the back.

I think with that type of attachment on the back, you're probably looking at late 1800s/early 1900s for a date.
