Everything I'm finding is leaning towards a French (Napoleonic) Marine Artillery button. That should give you some help to narrow down your search.

went out at lunch again today,only 75 yds from my old site.found old coin very worn but looks like another king george 111 1/2 penny,also found this button,can make out anchor and cross cannons, and 4 th regiment.anyone know?
