Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

I have no idea who M??? Birk might be, but this is amateur work loosely copied from or ‘inspired by’ a painting by the French artist Lucien Potronat (1899-1973) titled “Village by the Sea”. He sometimes also used the pseudonym Jacques Warner. Sadly it has nothing like his level of skill, so yes it is essentially worthless I’m afraid.

Potronat was born in Paris and, from the end of the 1930s, he lived and worked on the Côte d'Azur which is where many of his landscapes are set. Below, I’ve put it alongside a lithograph from Potronat’s original watercolour:
