can you mix gold and bleach

I have read that you should not put gold in bleach but i am wondering what would happen to small gold if you did. would it dissolve? become brittle?

In gold jewelry, chlorine can and will react with the silver, nickle, and copper mixed with the gold. Chlorine may react with electrum, but for the most part your nuggets are safe.

Muriatic Acid mixed with Bleach (Chlorine) will dissolve gold producing Gold Clorate.
