Cannon Bar Shot

Finding cannon "bar shot" was a total surprise. When I first picked it up I thought, that's the craziest door knob. It took a few seconds for my memory to click in, might as well have been pure gold when it did, rays of light shooting out of it, swear I saw a halo too. Still riding the excitement. The bar shot is 10 inches long and has a diameter of 3 inches, it weighs 3 lbs., 13 ounces. Still in the cleaning process. After knocking off the rust, it is evident that it has been struck by a plow 2 times right in the heart of the bend. I wasn't going to straighten it, but after finding the plow strikes I think I can live with it being straightened.

Are you sure it was a plow hit, or did it strike something back in the day it was fired?
Either way it can be straightened.

Thank you. It was a plow blade strike leaving its tell tale sign. Could have been bent before but the two strikes line up with the both bends. The strikes are followed by a heavy scraping as the plow rode the bar stock edge.
