Been a while since I've been on, so have a bit of catching up to do. Had a guest in town (Relicmedic) for 3 days of digging with Ironhorse (First two with IH) but was more like 2 total as we ran into some real nasty weather, and today's hunt was a short one as he had to hit the road. That being said, it was good! Many targets including lots of coppers (a nice cartwheel penny) & two military including my best find of the hunts ... the 18th Light Dragoons button. Plenty of misc., and a couple of real nice designed buttons.

The two exceptions - the flat Artillery and Navy were dug prior to his arrival. The Artillery while out with Ironhorse on a day he made me tap out :happysmiley: and the Navy & musket trigger guard one day while I was on my own walking some local fields. Was definitely a lot of fun!

Wow..i just get back from Costa Rica and looks like you were the one in true Paradise!! Congrats

Incredible batch of great finds!

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny

Congrats on the nice recoveries, those military buttons are super sweet. I've never seen a Light Dragoons button.

Best of luck to you sir!

Nice finds as usual!
the LD button sure was a huge surprise to see, especially in the site where it came from, it snuck up on ya!
Good to hear RM was able to bounce back from being under the weather AND enduring that cold pounding rain yesterday... he's a trooper!
with something new to add to your display, I'd call it an overall success for weekend, and despite the rain it was a fun!

Something about that sucker just drew my eyes to it.

Too cool.

Tis a "dandy" all right... a looker for sure.

Btw,,, Your other finds aren't too shabby either :)

Some beautiful buttons there! Sweet looking cartwheel too

Nice stuff.
I probably would not have recognized the 18 LD as a button had you not said so.
The cartwheel is brilliant.

Some good lookin' digs you found there.

That 18 LD is killer my man. That cartwheel is incredible too. Great soil

Actually terrible soil. Every other coin was rotted, or just enough detail to ID at best. But for some reason the cartwheel beat the odds.

It was a great couple of days! I really enjoyed seeing the military buttons being dug. Good thing IH walked into that second field! Man we dug a ton of holes lol. Every copper I dug out of there was roached, other than the Stiver, but even that has seen better days. It's interesting how the coins were in such bad shape, but the dandy buttons still had the plating on them with very little loss. All in all, it was a great experience with excellent hosts. Couldn't have asked for a better couple of guys to hunt with!

The plating is like a protective coat, and why buttons often fair better than coppers.

Agree, him taking the walk made the difference and gave you the chance to enjoy it a little more before you took off. I've strung together quite a few days of digging - think about a week now... so believe it or not, I'm actually happy to have a little downtime!

Haha I bet you need a rest lol. I had a lot of firsts on our hunt. First nice navy button, first overnight road trip to go detecting, first hunt over 4 hours long, first time throwing up in a field lol.
