No, you didn't say that. And I didn't say you didn't pick them up either. I was actually hoping you did if you will re-read my post.

But you did simply call it a nice big piece of flaked off material. That's a far cry from recognizing it as an artifact. I figured you hadn't read everything, and was simply trying to fill you in.

Have a nice day.

If I was the OP I would pick up any piece I could find and try to make some points out of flaked off material. My uncle has a set of bluff shelters on his property where people have gone and looked and left some really nice pieces because they thought it was just junk.

Alright. Did I ever say I didn’t pick up flakes or nice pieces I enjoy? I knap points from most of the bigger flakes I find. Trust me I’ve found more flint than I could ever bring home and have room for my other hobbies I have.
Ive tried making a point from the bigger flakes of fire treated material, since I've never been able to find one, But I'm not the best knapper.

A little practice and you can do it. Most of the big flakes already have some worked parts and it makes it easier to try and mimic those

Sounds like you have access to some great hunting spots!

I understand completely how and why many nice pieces get overlooked.

My favorite time to go check out bluff shelters is after it rains. Around my area some of the bluff shelters on public land that people have dug in they screen their dirt outside and dump the rest out when done. I’ve found many tiny bird points looking through their throw away dirt
