Please let me know if anyone can tell me anything about these items

These items were found on my friends property here in South carolina. His property backs up to the River/ Creek. The area is very hard to dig because of all the bottles. We either broke them or they were broken when we dug them up. 75 % of the bottls seem to be Dispensary bottles, either purple, or pink in color. We also found indian pottery, colonial pottery, and black glass. How do you go about digging a site like this? The owner has young kids and want me to remove the glass so his kids will not get cut when they are on the bank fishing. The area of glass is probably 40 ft in length. Thanks in advance for your help

First of all, DO NOT BREAK THE BOTTLES!!! Aside from the obvious mess and injury potential, some of those bottles could be worth BIG money.

Take a few hours and pick up all of the bottles. Be very careful with them. Take them home, clean them up and check them out online.

There are some guys that would kill to have a spot like that. So, treat it right

That's exactly what it is, a slave tag. The coin is a 2 reale cob, and the bottle looks familar too... so I think it's a good one. Quite a post of goodies!

I was thinking slave tag too, but, wasn't 100% sure. That is QUITE a find my friend. Too bad the condition is what it is. They don't come up that often, so, I'd say you have a pretty rare item there.
As I said, CAREFULLY clear out that spot and then go in for the kill.

Oh yeah, make sure and send me my invitation when you're ready to start digging :laughing7:

:o Hmmm Spanish cob on a river bank ??? :icon_scratch: 40 feet of some intact South Carolina dispensary bottles :o :o and you are not sure what to do about it . :dontknow: where to start ??? . bring a metal detector , boots , gloves , bug spray , a shaker sifter , gallons of water , some digging tools, a probe .. Get some plastic crates and news paper to wrap the bottles ..dig carefully , do not break the bottles . May will take some time but these are worth some $$ If you find anymore of those weird shaped coins , just send them to me . :laughing7: Servant tag is 8) 8) CMD

Hello, Thanks for the repsonses so quickly,

The bottles I would like to save but they are burriend in the mud. You cannot see them into you start digging. I litterally could not dig one spot without hitting into glass or pottery. I have dug down ~ 18" so far and still hit glass. Any help on how to dig a site like this would be appreciated.

Treasure is treasure my friend. Glass, metal, whatever. Why do you need to start detecting so quick. I'd take all of those bottles out even if it took me a month

What if you get say 200 or 300 bottles. If they are as old as you are claiming, each one could go for at least 10 or 20 bucks each. A couple of grand in hand is a nice score.

Excavate that site out first. That's what a professional would do. Besides, according to what you're saying, you wouldn't be able to dig yet anyhows.

Throw on some gloves and get those bottles out!!!

WOW wow WOW wow WOW wow WOW wow WOW wow WOW wow WOW !! SO COOL! I wanna go detecting in South Carolina!

It's a dump so most will be broken, but if you're careful you won't break the complete ones. As long as you keep finding stuff stay at it!

Man, that site sounds like the kind of place treasure hunters would do anything to search :icon_biggrin: Take your time and keep us posted. HH

You have a VERY VERY good site on your hands. My advice is to work it slow and meticulously. That slave tag, even in the condition its in, is well over a thousand dollars and

that Palmetto (S.C.) Dispensary Bottle is worth about $300, sometimes more, but I got mine from Ebay for $300. Go through that site with a fine tooth comb and collect as

much glass as you can so that theowner knows that its a reciprocal relationship and you'll be able to dig there until the cows come home. Can't wait to see what else you pop

up from that site. HUGE Congrats

buddy! :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:
