Chicago Groups weekend hunt

Chicago Group's weekend hunt

Although the group wasn't as large as it was last month, we still got out on an absolutely beautiful day for another hunt. The sun was shining, the temperature touched 80, and a little silver was found. The bulk of our hunting took place around a now closed tobogganing structure. Many wheaties were found, (1) 1944 D war nickel was found, plenty of clad, (1) silver ring, and I found (9) dimes in one hole in the middle of a field ranging from 1999 - 2002. Of course, being a large, old, well used park, there were a million pop tops and bottle caps. There was most likely some silver hiding beneath the trash, but there weren't enough hours in the day to dig all of the signals. Bomber provided the food and beer as last time and we all had a great time.

I'm sure we would found silver and gold, and maybe a t-rex if we could have only found that magic pile of wood chips!!!

Re: Chicago Group's weekend hunt

This was a fun time with a great bunch of guys! The park looks like it had lots of history and currently had lots of sunbathers. So all in all, the 'tecting was fun, the sites were enjoyable, lunch was good, and the company was the best!

The Those pictures of Bomber attacking me with the MD was because I went after a zinc penny that was in his line. He is territorial!!!

I will post my findings (a sterling wedding band, a carwash token, a bullet, one wheat and a bunch of clad) when I get home from work.

At the end of the day, I made out the best!!!!! I took home 10 lbs of the Bombers famous pulled pork BBQ that I won at the last get together. The neighborhood is still talking about Sunday's picnic.

thanks to all.working on next months(arrowheads) outing.how about this though, the last group hunt of the year(probably not)in sept,we could do a family and friends bbq,picnic/hunt.the woods we were just at seems big enough(or small enough)for any were between 10 to 100 people.games for the kids and adults(waterballons, vollyball, horseshoes),maybe prizes like kids metal detectors for the next generation of dirt diggers.what do ya think?

Re: Chicago Group's weekend hunt

Gotta pop rivet a metal rest plate on the side of my carpenters bag to rest the beer bottle going through the metal hammer loop, THEN you may see some action shots. Kinda like oil for the tinman. Gotta keep hydrated on those hot summer days. Scheiss, but then I will have to design a drainage tube connecting down to my shoe. OUCH.

Re: Chicago Group's weekend hunt

A group that looked like that would have the National Guard out watching for homeland security. Great pics and finds. Keep it up!
