China, Capitalism, and Diamonds

Actually just watched a great mini video on the growing demand for diamonds in China. China has just passed Japan and is now only second to the USA for IMPORTING diamonds.

The Chinese have the thirst, money, and now culture for diamonds. The young Chinese female architect said "diamonds mean love"..."every girl wants a diamond".

Cartier has opened 30 stores as has Tiffanies.

The demand is predicted to 'skyrocket' the price of diamonds (rings) in just ten years.

Might not be a bad investment. Apparently (now) they 'upgrade to larger diamonds' on the tenth wedding anniversary. (don't tell Mrs. Zossima)

Yes, they have the money right now to be buyers in a lot of "luxury" type items. I also heard that furs are really popular now in China.

Thanks for sharing the info. Very interesting.
