Man, who thought out this design for a transferware chamber pot? Let's see, have Chinese men playing Badminton on one side of the pot, and riding a see-saw on the other side....oh.....and put a cork in the hole in the bottom to keep the pot functional........

History is where you find it, and where you see it portrayed on a 1850's Chamber Pot! It was dug in a downtown Charleston, SC privy.

They had a sense of humor all the way to the end.......so to speak..

I see, so these aren't "Todays Finds" then. That's fine, you have obviously done well in the relic rich Low Country of SC. However, as I understand the way things work here, new finds go on this forum, stuff you have found in the past go on the Best Finds forum. Obviously you are an advanced collector and digger. I apologize if I have offended you, but your posts were simply vague as to when these items were dug and by who.

Let's see now, I dug my first French & Indian War artifacts at the age of 6. I will be 53 next week. Still want to call me sonny??

If you want to talk further, we can take it off line.

Your right again Steve.....you got me.....I didn't dig that pot today....is this past week-end ok with you?

And if you think you have dug more or better or longer than me, then you need to up the dosage of your medication.

No Mr Bohrn, you have got me! I checked out your posts on the bottle forum and you have dug some beautiful glass. I especially like the sodas. I have dug hundreds of Hutchisons, but very few of the earlier ones like you have. No, you have certainly dug more and better than I, but I feel I may have you on the longer part......unless you can beat this. Ask Mr Hume about Fort Ligonier next time you talk to him. Now, let us put this to rest with my apologies.

Touche'!

I am impressed! My apologies as well!

I am having dinner with Mr. Hume this weekend at his home. I'll have to show him that cool letter!

I will also do a post about " The Summit." next week.

Dig well and prosper!

Hi,

I believe the scenes are of children playing.

Very cool find...I've just developed an appreciation for glasswork, and that is a very nice piece.

Thats some fine glass and the chamber pot is first rate. While attending Old Dominion University about 5 years ago I did summer excavations up in Williamsburg and Jamestown with the William and Mary archaeological department. Its pretty special diggin a place like that, peoples' remains pop up around that site from time to time as well.

P.S.--That display is Great! :icon_thumleft:

Thanks guys....and I really never gave it much thought....but it is Chinese Childern Playing! thanks Erik!
