Christmas Eve Cougar

Have had this camera set here for a long time waiting for a Mountain Lion. This one came through Christmas Eve and stopped long enough to trigger the beam break sensor twelve times.
Appears to have something wrong with it's right eye... Brings to remembrance an old TV show called Clarence the cross eyed lion. ( Cropped some of them. )

It appears to be healthy, so I don't think the eye problem is keeping him/her from hunting and finding food.

It definitely is hearing your camera shutter. That spooks quite a few wary animals. I’ve not ever heard of manufacturers putting out a spec for how quiet their camera is. Luckily that cat was curious.

Canon cameras have a silent shooting mode but it's not silent... For some reason cougars don't seem to be afraid of the camera but they are curious.

I've had quite a few videos from trail cameras monitoring DSLR camera trap sets... For some reason Cougars don't even flinch when camera and flashes are triggered.

I they don't fear much, not much out there that is a threat to make them jumpy, also I'm sure they knew something was there just from smell!
