Chrome Plated or Fake?

Hi Everyone, I found this coin today in a box of halves and wonder if it's chrome plated or just a bad fake. Only the front looks plated, and the back is all glopped up with whatever is on the front. I weighed a regular '64 and then this one. The 90% coin weighs in at 12.6 grams and this 'funny guy' weighs in at 13.5. It almost looks bluish next to the silver coin. Have any of you ever seen this before? I plan on keeping it anyway, I'm just curious as to what you all think it is. Thanks for looking. Oh, by the way, out of 2 boxes today I got this and 2-1965's. 2 boxes yesterday gave up 1-1964 and 1-1965. Slow but steady. : )

I got a chrome one like that also, it sounds like silver on the bounce test. How does yours sound when you bounce it for the "ring" test?

check the reeding on the sides to, someone else pointed out once on another fakes thread that on fakes the reeding wont be even or straight since they are poured usually and not struck.

Most likely a salvaged half from a money clip. The extra metal on the back could account for the weight.

The reeding on the edge matches perfectly with my real 1964, so I'm inclined to think that some doo-doo messed up a perfectly good 90% silver coin. Thanks for taking the time to reply and give your thoughts. : )

I believe that proofs have that shiny chrome-ish looking color to them. Maybe it was a proof that was solderd to a money clip or something.

Yeah it does look like it could have come off a money clip. Either way, Nice find Frankiefry.
