Hi, I found these on a beach located next to an old fort on the coast of Maine. The fort was built in 1801 and was manned right through WWII.The fort actually saw naval action during the civil war and 25 confederates were captured and detained there.I don't know if they're from that era or not but I'm hopeful. Also don't know if they are union or confederate.Maybe our boys roughed them up on the beach.Any info would be appreciated. Can you positively I.D. them? Thanks Bootstrap

The item on the left is a U.S. Army Coast Artillery equipment tag from WWI. There should be three prongs or tabs at the edge on the back.

The one on the right appears to be a WWI period U.S. Army Infantry, Co. H enlisted man's collar disk. If so, there should be a screw post on the back.

Thanks PBK,that makes sense,as I said the fort was built in 1801 and in use right thru WWII so I knew they could be from any time during that period,it's nice that we can count on you for some well informed answers. Thanks to you also Montana Jim,the support of our fellow members means alot. Hey Bootstrap...

I've only seen those equipment tags posted here a few times... the collar brass and buttons are as common as rain!

I think I would be very proud of the tag as (I think) almost all of them must have been destroyed/thrown away...
