:hello: Josh and I decided to change it up today and head to a Civil War campsite that Josh used to hunt a few years back. On the way out he told me that he hit it pretty good "back in the day", but that there was still plenty left to get  After digging a few bullets, and about an hour into the hunt, the girlfriend calls me up to tell me how her day was (exciting stuff :laughing7: love ya hun) As soon as we hang up the phone, I spot a downed tree and decided to take a couple swings under the roots... BAM! "62", "62", "62" hmmmm :headbang: thinking I had another nice bullet, but this thing is reading only two inches down. :icon_scratch: .. wait a sec :sign13: under this downed tree, it should be something old right?

Another hour or so later, I got the finial and shoulder scale, both firsts for me ;D On our way home, we stopped off at another new field for the last 2 hours of the day and I got the 3-center and Josh was able to snag a Matron Head LC. On to the pics!

Thanks HB, Kirk (no prob), Thanks 4-H all is well same to you and the family, Carl I'd come out for a couple hunts with you and pleb :D , thanks Erik, Thanks Quindy these things love the lead too :laughing7: , thanks Deb hope the black comes off, thanks treasurehound, sscindercoop, and TTH :icon_thumleft:

You would be welcome.
Anytime.
Might not get a ride home however, depending on how your luck was.
Pleb can get cranky.
Nights can get pretty chilly out here.
With your skill, you'd probably dig the only known CSA plate ever dug here.
Then I'd get cranky.
I now have to find something this week.
You have spurned me on.
Carl

Well, I've yet to dig one here so I think the odds are against me. ::) For real, if I'm ever in your neck, I'm gonna come hunt with you guys. I have a couple military buds out that way that I'm planning to visit next summer.

Great stuff Jeff. That seated half dime is in awsome shape. Both those coins are hard to come by. Keep up the good work my friend. :icon_thumright:

nice finds jeff! you dont need to on that one but did you know that you can get a good general date on the three cent pieces by the number of outlines around the star. willy

Thanks fellas, I did know there were different types Willy, just didn't know how to tell the difference. Thanks for the info :icon_thumleft:

very nice day out dude! sweet silver right there. i don't know if ya wanna try it but what i use on my blackened coins like that is called TARN-X sold at wal mart
black bottle with a white cap.takes that crap right off using a Q-tip.your silver may have a semi-bleached out look afterwards .i then use a soft cloth and rub the coin a little and that lightly bleached look goes away.
you can try it,i know your not supposed to clean coins blah blah blah, but in some cases it just makes the blackened stained silver ones so much more enjoyable to look at.

Well, if the silver coin isn't worth over $100 bucks, I don't pay the cleaning thing much mind...let your preference be the deciding factor is what I say and you're right, that Tarn-x works pretty good, I use to have some a couple years back....what I use for that "bleached out" look that you were referring to is a silver polish rag.....takes it right out...............

I say leave it! I like the patina on the silver that comes from the ground :headbang:
