This is actual an old find, in fact i found this when i was about 15. My father relic hunts so my whole life ive been raised hunting. There was three of us that day, My father, his friend, and me, and it was hot. This was not one of those stories where the point is barely showing and you pray its whole, no i think Ray Charles could have found this point in the dark!! It was laying flat on top of the ground in the middle of a tobacco row. It is by far the best find of my life and means more to me than any amount of money. I have been offered a $1000 for it and though i dont think its worth that i still would not sell it.

So why i am posting something that is a find from years ago??

Well its simple. The snow has got me stuck inside and going through boxes and putting stuff in cases and thinking.
There are some things in life that mean more than you can put words to. My old man is still around and i talk to him daily but we don't hunt together as much as we did at one time. I have started into my life and family and he is well into his. When i was little there was a feeling i got when i was hunting with him, a feeling that he was teaching me in those miles of tobacco fields. He was teaching to only about what i was finding but about life too. About growing and becoming what i wanted in life. I use to walk behind him trying to catch up and trying to walk in his large footprints and making his big stride. But now i notice everyday i use a little of something i learned in those fields and realize what that time meant to me. One day soon i know that the tables will turn and he will walk behind trying to match my stride, I can say now that when that day does come i will slow down. Not to let him catch up but to simply say Thanks!

Great story, and man what an awesome point that is! I wouldn't sell it either :icon_thumright:

Great points those white one,s i like best i only found 1 so far in a field that was just plowed , there's a old timer out here in his 80,s who owned 6 fields at one time him and his dad when he was a teen used to work all 6
he sold off 4 since he has the largest Clovis point collection i ever seen over 300 in glass cases all found in fields out here mostly after a heavy rain he said he wont sell them hes handing them down to the next generation . He said i could take pics one day if i do ill post in the Photo forum HH Jim

Hay Bspicer4,

I love your Clovis point. Thanks for
sharing.

I have a Dalton point. It is not as neat
as your Clovis, but I treasure it just the
same,

Very awsome find.
:hello: HH in 2010 :hello2:

Forgive my lack of information in this area, but why are these so valuable? I mean, as far as being historical relics, they are 'priceless' and everything, but what makes one worth a certain value in money? Since all would be unique, what type of value-scale is there for these? This is very cool and I'm just curious. Thanks for posting!

Ironically, the point is not the point of the posting, littlejohn. I think Bspicer is going beyond the item and is pretty much saying while it was great finding the point, it was the time spent with his Dad that was the worth behind the item. I think he "found" that again today, after finding something more material earlier in his life.

BTW, the post was terrific. Can't say enough about a find when it has more meaning than the article itself.

Keep hunting hard and accumulating those memories.

Im glad some people have a deeper thought range than just what under the surface.
Sometimes its the things that you didnt find that mean the most.

Thanks All

A Clovis point is definitely high on my wish list. :headbang: I always have eyes on the ground, so I hope one graces my sight.
