Coil size vs battery life?

How does coil size effect battery life? I'm planning on upgrading from my 8" coil to a 15" WOT on my Excalibur and my battery pack is only giving me about 4-5 hrs.

I've never noticed any correlation between coil size and battery life. But then I might change coils several times on a set of batteries depending on the area I hunt. I would believe it is insignificant at best? Monty

I too have never noticed any difference in battery life with any of the brands of detectors when changing coils. My Excal doesn't have the standard battery but a Sunray 1660 AH Nimh pak. I can use it for around eight hunts of 3 hours and I then charge it up whether I think it needs it or not. I have never run out of power during a hunt.
