As many of you know I work in a grocery store that has a Coin Star machine in it and I check the reject slot everyday. This morning as I was coming into work,I looked in the slot and there was $12.97 in change + 3-1 dollar coins in the slot up top.
I can't figure out how anyone leaves this much change in there and doesn't go back and get it:icon_scratch:

Epic score for a Coin Star raid. I checked mine today but it was a complete bust.

zip while shopping even thought 3 folks used it while I was there --folks are getting cheap ..looking at the return slots and listening for rejected coins

I recovered to Canadian dimes, and a 5 grozen (?) coin from Poland. I used the dimes as part of my deposit for work...let my boss deal with them...HA!

Thats awesome...I frequent the Coin Star at my local grocer and find silver all the time.

a couple weeks ago i found 42 quarter sitting on top of the machine

a silver quarter ? on top ...

I posted last year about finding over twenty dollars in coins left in reject tray. So many I had to quick grab a grocery bag from the checkout area and dump handful after handful into the bag. It is just dumbfounding how someone could leave that much behind but they do.

Because we live in a plastic society, folks have no idea what to do with cash. Sarcasm unintended.

Coinstar treasure

Hi produce guy, I'm glad to see your post I've recently just started checking when I was using the machine, I started a foreign coin collection , I've also found two silver roosevelt dimes image.webp I put a pic of my last find, I usually take one to show my brother!!

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1433467410.577389.webp from a Colorado coinstar last weekend :)

I've also found a couple silver dimes in the last year. My wife still thinks I'm crazy to bother to check :)

I find tons of foreign coins and an occasional silver coin. I got a 2006-S Silver Proof dime once and also a 1919 Merc on top of the machine. I have had much better luck under the coin tray. I use a straw and gum or just tell the store manager I dropped an item in the tray and they have opened the machine for me. I recovered 1-14KT amethyst Pendant, 1-14 KT Gold three prong earring, and 1-14kt Gold ball stud earring. I also recovered about 10 silver ear rings mostly studs with cz's. I also got one very fine gold plated necklace. I can only imagine how much the workers recover below.

People just don't want to carry change anymore, so they leave it.

I looked into getting a part time job with coinstar, the time I checked there were no openings

Now THAT is a smart idea!

I am going to start checking the coin star when i go shopping.
When I buy anything, I never pay in coins, I make them give me their change. I go through it in the evening and any good coins get set aside the rest will get rolled and exchanged at the bank at the end of the month.
