Hello Everyone,
Please forgive me if there are too many pics. I had a Blast today. We had a Big Change in the weather here in Pa. Went from 90s to the 30's. I took the day off of work to team up with Mach 1 and DeArmitt for a day of searching an old Tavern built in 1797. Got to the site about a 20 minutes drive from here and soon realized I was really underdressed for the weather. Normally I have an extra sweatshirt in the truck but not today. There were actually snowflakes flying. DeArmitt got a really cool, nicely patinaed button in the garden area. Mach 1 meet up with us but was not able to stay long due to family obligations. He did find an old hoe ( doesn't sound good does it, no disrespect meant ) before he had to leave. When he left we actually drove back home for some warmer clothing. Upon the return we hit the pasture and I manged a flat button, a ring and lots of junk iron. But you have to dig most of it at a place like this. Before we left we tryed another field I got a good tone that pinpointed several inches away from the main signal, got the nail out of the way and from about 6 inches away the E-trac locked onto this 1796 Largie. Pretty sweet ! After that I got this unknown, to me at least Copper, has kind of a Shield with a Crown on top on the back. Then John got his really nice 1794 Half Cent. The euphoria was high ! Then I got another decent 12-44 signal and dug a beat King George. I have never dug 3 Coppers in a day, let alone a half hour. DeArmitt also dug some type several pieces of metal that has a lead type back on it. Kind of reminds me of a sword or knife handle ??? who knows. Might be a week or so until the return trip but there will be a Return.
HH,
BB
Added the Relics from yesterday's Hunt. Didn't do the Relic pics (Down below) until now. Nothing great, several Iron Buckles probably off of horse tack, part of a large pewter spoon, a little but heavy knob off of something, a Barrel Tap and part of an oil lamp.
Man The Today's Finds posts lately have been Fantastic ! A lot of our Treasure-net Friends are digging some Excellent Finds :notworthy:

some cool stuff. I hope you all pull a lot more good stuff out of there.

Liberty Cap is a sweetheart :o Found a 1797 halfcent in 09.. You may be close to a Draped Bust silver , on that site !! My DREAM silver..only found one , a worn out 179? half .. ::) Hope you get some more :icon_pirat:

A 1797 tavern site is always killer. I was told by a member on here, "I don't want your coppers with no history." That is a total slap in the face to any Colonial hunter in PA. Don't tell me that a copper lost when George Washington was president has "no history." ::)

Thanks for sharing your tavern artifacts, Bob. The Liberty Cap is the most sought after copper in our group. Gotta love early American history! :hello2:

Thanks for the comments Kirk, Us Western Pa Boys ( myself, DeArmitt, Mach 1, Mach II and Life is Good )love seeing what you guys find. To me there is nothing like the feeling of holding a freshly dug Large Cent in your hand, better than sex ;D. But then I've never dug any U.S. Silver or Gold that old  The First 1700s coin I ever dug was a 1796 Largie in the Field by my house. What was so cool about it was there was a spent 69 caliber musketball about 5 feet from it, same depth. Often wondered if someone shot a deer and then lost the coin while field dressing it ??? Who knows. To me it doesn't matter where it came from, it's the idea that someone had lost it and we found it. All these old U.S. Coppers are nothing BUT history plain and simple.

Best of Luck to you Guys,
BB
