Why do people put snakes on jewelry? That is a cool piece. Even with the snake. I didn't see it at first.

No I don't that's it. I have a ring from the colonial period in brass with a snake on it. The motif has been popular since forever.

The join or die snake was VERY symbolic, as most things were back then. The diamonds on the back and the shape of the head on yours, seems to represent a diamond back rattler. I do not see it segmented into 8. I only see 5 on yours. And a rattle is not EXACTLY clear. When i first looked at it, my mind went RIGHT to military, though...

Holy cow! super old gold plus probably a very symbolic piece as well! Well done! now I have to go out and wade in the mud and water because of you!
