Colonial hunt & why I don't post too many close ups of my coppers

Well got a great day out detecting with hunthicks...but for the 13th of Oct. the mosquitoes were quite bad at times...here is a group shot of my finds with the normal dodads and such...also a picture of my 4 coppers that I got...2 disc coppers, 1 success to commerce (1816) and a wellington from the same time frame...our coppers don't usually come much better than those...but the rare few will beat the odds...
Was hoping for another military but wasn't meant to be today but still nice to pull out old targets...

A copper is a copper and I will love each one. The thrill is seeing the large green disc in the hole. Don't worry, I have my bets on you out-detecting Iron Patch during that 7-day hunt. :icon_thumleft: ;D

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Those coppers look great to me.

Finding toasted coppers only make the SWEET ones all the more intriguing!

The potential was there for sure! Next time. I see you did add to your lead collection though! :icon_thumright:

I'd rather my goal of 5000 grams of early military buttons. :laughing7:

Thanks Herbie... not complaining about the coppers but wish they were in better shape...

Re: Colonial hunt & why I don't post too many close ups of my coppers

I think the coppers are getting noticeably worse just over the last few years. Either that or I am just unlucky because every one I dig these days is toasted.

Re: Colonial hunt & why I don't post too many close ups of my coppers

Those coppers sure are on the crusty side, but that's what a hundred+ years of farming and acidic soil will do. I'm sure there's another silver or two and a couple more military there....somewhere!

For every 10 bad coppers, there is one that will pop out looking like the day it was lost. Keep striving for the ones that beat the odds, Patriot! You will dig your fair share this Fall!
