Colts patent buckle???

It's only about as big as a golf ball I'm told, seems too small to be a belt buckle, even though it has a loop on the back and a prong. Any help would be great.... Jim

We would need to see the back to be sure, but it looks and sounds like you have a bridle rosette.

I think you have a belt buckle. A rosette has a bar like yours but the little post is for putting in the hole of the belt.
