Colts patent buckle???

It's only about as big as a golf ball I'm told, seems too small to be a belt buckle, even though it has a loop on the back and a prong. Any help would be great.... Jim

The one that has a pic looks like a modern repro based on the back, as you can it's not the same as the one I posted, thanks....

I think you have a belt buckle. A rosette has a bar like yours but the little post is for putting in the hole of the belt.
